Adult Recreational Programs

Our Adult Recreational program is designed to introduce new paddlers to the sport and teaching the basics, while helping intermediate adult paddlers to improve existing technique. There’s nothing like getting in a great workout and enjoying the fresh air while paddling on a gorgeous river with other lovely people!

Paddlers will be using exclusively recreational equipment. All equipment is provided by the club, but you may bring your own PFD if you prefer. The specific watercraft we will use include Sit-on-top Kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboards, and Pleasure Canoes, but will vary program-to-program. Each group is capped at 12 registrants.

Seniors Kayaking (55+)

Whether you have years of paddling experience or would like to challenge yourself with a new activity, come enjoy kayaking on the beautiful Ottawa River! Whether you are a fitness enthusiast or are just interested in meeting new friends, if you are 55+ and love outdoor activities, this program is for you!

This group-paddling program is facilitated by highly qualified instructors who provide a supportive and fun learning environment.

Schedule: 1 weekly session, Mondays 5:00pm to 6:15pm (8 sessions)
Price: $165

* All adult paddlers must attest that they are competent swimmers.

No previous paddling experience is required, but paddlers must be at least 18 years old.
Participants must submit a completed “Getting Active Questionnaire” as part of their registration.
Make-up sessions due to stat holidays/weather cancellations will be held on Friday evening of the same week.


Fitness Kayaking

Fitness kayaking sessions are designed to give paddlers a fantastic core, strength and cardio workout, all in one! To complement your workouts, you will learn basic to advanced kayak drills, techniques and games. Each session delivers a structured workout program offering low-impact training with high-impact results.

This group-paddling program is facilitated by highly qualified instructors who provide a supportive and fun learning environment.

Schedule: 2 weekly sessions, Mondays and Thursdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm (16 sessions)
Price: $350

* All adult paddlers must attest that they are competent swimmers.

No previous paddling experience is required, but paddlers must be at least 18 years old.
Participants must submit a completed “Getting Active Questionnaire” as part of their registration.

Intro to Recreational Kayaking

This program is intended for adult beginners and intermediate paddlers who want to become more comfortable on the water and learn more about recreational kayaking. You will learn proper paddling techniques and water safety, while hanging out with other fabulous people and exercising outdoors!

This group-paddling program is facilitated by highly qualified instructors who provide a supportive and fun learning environment.

Rec “A” Schedule: 1 weekly session, Tuesdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm (8 sessions)
Price: $180

Rec “B” Schedule: 1 weekly session, Wednesdays, 5:00pm to 6:15pm (8 sessions)
Price: $165

Intro to Recreational Canoeing

This program is intended for adult beginners and intermediate paddlers who want to become more comfortable on the water and learn more about recreational canoeing. You will learn proper paddling techniques and water safety, while hanging out with other fabulous people and exercising outdoors!

This group-paddling program is facilitated by highly qualified instructors who provide a supportive and fun learning environment.

Schedule: 1 weekly session, Wednesdays, 6:30pm to 8:00pm (8 sessions)
Price: $180

Intro to Recreational Paddle sports: Canoe, Kayak, and SUP!

This program is intended for adult beginners and intermediate paddlers who want to become more comfortable on the water and who are interested in trying different kinds of recreational paddling. Each week, we will rotate through You will learn proper paddling techniques and water safety, while hanging out with other fabulous people and exercising outdoors!

This group-paddling program is facilitated by highly qualified instructors who provide a supportive and fun learning environment.

Schedule: 2 weekly sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00pm to 6:15pm (16 sessions)
Price: $305

* All adult paddlers must attest that they are competent swimmers.

No previous paddling experience is required, but paddlers must be at least 18 years old.
Participants must submit a completed “Getting Active Questionnaire” as part of their registration.
Make-up sessions due to weather cancellations will be held on Friday evening of the same week.


Masters (Adult) Sprint Competitive Program

The Masters Sprint program is designed to meet the needs of beginner, intermediate and experienced paddlers who wish to compete while further challenging themselves in the sport of Sprint Canoe-Kayak. With the help of our experienced coaches, athletes will hone their paddling technique and teamboat skills, improve overall fitness and stamina, and gradually become more & more comfortable racing. There will be opportunities to compete and local, provincial, and national level regattas.

No previous paddling experience is required, but paddlers must be at least 18 years old.
Participants must submit a completed “Getting Active Questionnaire” as part of their registration.

Dates: July 2 to August 22
Schedule: 2 weekly sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Price: $380
Fees Included: Local regatta fees, sport affiliation memberships, and insurance
Not Included: National championship race fees, international competition fees, racing singlet
Optional: Racing singlet $65

Getting your balance It is expected that beginners will tip frequently when they first start paddling sprint boats – everyone starts out that way! Before joining Masters Sprint, paddlers should have a moderate fitness base and be able to go at least a kilometer in a sprint boat without tipping. If you are a beginner determined to make the jump to Competitive, please speak to your coach and/or email us.

Make-up sessions due to weather cancellations will be held on Friday evening of the same week. On weekends when there are Masters regattas, the Masters coach will be at the regatta.
