It’s important to find & train kids for the North American Indigenous Games(NAIG), so they become proficient paddlers. So far, our club hasn’t received any support from our national or provincial sports bodies, however thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Orléans and Waste Connections Canada, we can offer the equivalent of three full-summer programs. Although that doesn’t seem like much, we figure it’s better to have a very small program than none at all. If additional funding comes through, we will accept more kids into the NAIG stream, but currently, we only have the three (sponsored) spots available. Parents also have the option to pay for a spot in the club’s regular summer program. Kids who are interested in being sponsored for one of the two available NAIG training spots will be required to submit a short bio, explaining why they want to paddle at the NAIG. Applicants will attend the 4 training sessions this June, and selection for the sponsored spots will be based on both their bio and their attendance/effort/enthusiasm.
