Fall Training 8 Week Camps

U12 Fall Training: Foundations Register Now

Foundations is an introduction to sport, involvement in sport, and a start to building self-confidence in sport. Participants will develop multi-sport skills, such as swimming, running, age-appropriate strength, and coordination. Kids will also learn specific Canoe Kayak skills; technique, balance and boat control, hand-eye coordination, agility, and flexibility. We will learn these skills through fun and play in a positive group atmosphere, guided by our coaches.

  • Age: 10-12
  • Dates: September 6 to October 29
    • Tuesday & Thursday 4:15 to 6:00pm
    • Saturday 10:30am to 12:30pm
  • Price: $200

Athletes will need pogies (mitts that go around the paddle shaft), splashdecks/sprayskirts (these keep most of the water out, and trap warm air inside the boat), a decent wind-breaker, long spandex, and some long-sleeved thermal shirts. Tuques are also a good idea for chilly fall practices.

While athletes are working out, they will be quite warm, but once they come off the water, they will start cooling down very quickly. Develop a habit of changing into dry clothes immediately, so that your body temperature doesn’t dip too low.

U14 & U16 Fall Training: Learn to Train Register Now

Our Learn to Train program is an introduction to the sport of Canoe Kayak at a developmental competitive level. Participants will learn to develop focus, take direction, and develop their work ethic. The focus in Learn to Train is to build basic paddling skills and abilities; learn to paddle with proper technique building proficiency in singles and crew boats, build endurance, and develop speed and strength. The program is targeted towards the ages of 13+ years.

Fall is the ideal opportunity to correct technique, get comfortable with longer distances, and learn to wash-ride. Our team will be attending the Fallapalooza training camp on Sept 24 at Carleton Place Canoe Club, and we will finish off our competitive season with the long-distance O-Cup regatta on October 2nd at Rideau Canoe Club.
