Who is this for
Age range
This program is for people from 5 to 15 years old.Description
Before your child can paddle with us, they'll complete a quick swim test. It's a simple check to make sure every camper is safe and confident in the water, and it follows the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive standard.
The pool test is free
We've booked pool time just for PICC families. Testing at the pool is a great opportunity: the water is calm and warm, and coaches can give your child a little extra time and attention.
There's no charge, as long as you show up. If you miss your booked time without letting us know, we'll charge a $20 rebooking fee since we pay for the pool either way.
What your child will do
The test takes just a few minutes. Your child will:
- Roll into deep water
- Tread water for one minute
- Swim 50 metres unassisted
Once they pass, they're cleared for the season. If they don't pass the first time, that's okay. Coaches will let you know what to work on and your child can retest. Campers can't go on the water until they've passed, and registration fees aren't refundable if a camper isn't able to pass.

- Campers 15 to 18: a parent or guardian can complete the Swim skills declaration instead.
