Description
Dragon boat is a very stable, 40-ft boat. Crews consist of 20 paddlers, two to a bench, with a drummer in the front, and a steersperson in the back.
This accessible sport is suitable for all ages, skill levels, and fitness backgrounds. It provides a full-body workout that engages the core, back, and legs.
Recreational teams focus on paddling in sync and developing rhythm, while enjoying the outdoors, exercising and socializing.
Competitive teams are still highly social, but they also emphasize speed, technique, and teamwork. They attend dragon boat festivals, where they race against other teams and get to know people from all over the wider dragon boat community.

Location
Petrie Island Canoe Club, 795 Tweddle Rd.
Schedule
Meet your coach and teammates at the boathouse 15 minutes before the session begins.
Find your lifejacket and paddle, grab your water bottle, and head down to the beach for your warmup.
Please let us know in advance if you will need assistance getting down to the beach, or if you will need help carrying your equipment.
Please come on time- it's best for everyone if we can predictably leave the dock on time.
We plan to be back at the dock about 5 minutes before the end of practice.
After practice, we put our equipment away, speak to our coach if we like, and hang out with our crew!
Equipment provided
Petrie Island Canoe Club will provide all paddling equipment.
