Description
Regatta Ready is a two-week introduction to sprint canoe and kayak, an Olympic sport. Kids get on the water right away, paddling both solo and team boats while learning the fundamentals of balance, coordination, and basic racing skills.
Throughout the camp, paddlers build confidence, teamwork, and fitness in a fun, supportive environment. They stay active, spend time outdoors, and learn how to work together on the water.
Each Friday morning, parents are invited to watch a club mini-triathlon (run, swim, paddle), where participants can show what they’ve learned.
Paddlers who are ready have the opportunity to race with Team PICC at a local weekend regatta (a friendly canoe/kayak competition between clubs).
At the end of the camp, each participant receives a progress report highlighting the skills they’ve developed.
Kids who want to keep going can continue in our full sprint program.

Equipment provided
Petrie Island Canoe Club will provide all paddling equipment.
What to bring
Please arrive wearing sunscreen, and dressed to get wet! Good paddling clothes are close-fitting and dry quickly. Shirts should cover the shoulders. Bring a healthy lunch and snacks, a water bottle, sandals, sneakers, a hat, sunscreen, a towel, and two warm changes of clothes.
