Petrie Island Canoe Club Masters Paddling Programs for Adults

Variations
Recreational – 1 session per week, the program is designed to meet the needs of new and intermediate adult paddlers, the program focuses on learning the very basics of Kayaking as well improving and perfecting existing technique. Additional emphasis on physical fitness as well as mental health and wellbeing while spending quality time on the water with our coaches enjoying the outdoor fresh air experience as well as building relationships with like minded individuals.
Paddlers will be using exclusively recreational equipment: Sit-on-tops, Stand Up Paddleboards, and Pleasure Canoes. Group is capped at 12 registrants. More sessions may be added as required.
Competitive – 2 sessions per week, the program is designed to meet the needs of new paddlers who are up for a challenge, or more experienced paddlers, intermediate level and above, who wish to further hone their paddling technique and improve overall fitness and stamina, all under the supervision of our experienced coaching team. There will also be opportunities to compete with the team at local, divisional, and provincial-level regattas.
Athletes will be using Sprint Canoes and Kayaks, including team boats (tandem and quads), and singles.
Schedule
Recreational: Monday or Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8pm.
Competitive: Monday and Thursday evenings, from 6:30 to 8pm.

If a practice is cancelled due to lightning, the make-up session will be held on Friday of the same week.
