Fall Training – U12


Foundations is an introduction to sport, involvement in sport, and a start to building self-confidence in sport. Participants will develop multi-sport skills, such as swimming, running, age-appropriate strength, and coordination. Kids will also learn specific Canoe Kayak skills; technique, balance and boat control, hand-eye coordination, agility, and flexibility. We will learn these skills through fun and play in a positive group atmosphere, guided by our coaches.

    • Tuesday & Thursday 4:15 to 6:00pm
    • Saturday 10:30am to 12:30pm

Athletes will need pogies (mitts that go around the paddle shaft), splashdecks/sprayskirts (these keep most of the water out, and trap warm air inside the boat), a decent wind-breaker, long spandex, and some long-sleeved thermal shirts. Tuques are also a good idea for chilly fall practices.

While athletes are working out, they will be quite warm, but once they come off the water, they will start cooling down very quickly. Develop a habit of changing into dry clothes immediately, so that your body temperature doesn’t dip too low.
